Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected when someone uses Spencer County Criminal History, the reasons that information is processed, and the limited circumstances in which another party may receive it. It also explains cookies, outside search providers, security practices, and visitor rights. By continuing to browse or use a feature on this privately operated site, you agree to the data practices stated on this page.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered into a site search tool is transmitted directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Our systems do not retain or record the search terms entered there.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email sent to us may be kept for the purpose of responding. We keep the message within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a visitor loads a page, the server automatically receives basic technical and usage details:

  • Page-view dates and times
  • The referring website, when available
  • Pages viewed and the time spent on them
  • Device type and operating system
  • Browser type and version
  • The device's IP address

Cookies and Analytics

This site uses cookies, which are small files saved on a visitor's device. Cookies and analytics services help combine traffic information, such as popular pages and points where visits end. Browser controls can block cookies, though disabling them may change how some site features operate.

What We Do With This Data

  • Finding and correcting technical problems
  • Measuring which pages are useful and which need improvement
  • Maintaining site availability, speed, and operation
  • Routing a search request to the applicable partner service
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

We do not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The site publishes general directions to custodians such as the Spencer County Sheriff's Office, the Office of Circuit Court Clerk, Kentucky State Police, and the Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry. Kentucky law, including KRS 17.150, controls dissemination of certain law-enforcement records by the proper public agency. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal profiles.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes appearing on this site. Information submitted through a box is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each partner chooses its own retention and disclosure practices, which we do not direct. Read the provider's policy before sending a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to the Spencer County Sheriff's Office, Kentucky Court of Justice, state agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy policy governs that visit. Review it before providing personal information.

Some advertising providers may use their own systems to follow activity across websites for targeted advertising. We do not operate that tracking.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. It may be disclosed to the following recipients when applicable:

  • Advertising networks that serve ads on site pages
  • Analytics providers that measure use and performance
  • Search partners that process a visitor's submitted query
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies when disclosure is compelled by a valid legal order

How We Protect Your Data

Standard security measures are used to protect collected data. No internet-connected system can be made completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will remove it.

Your Data Rights

Rights vary by residence and applicable law. Kentucky's Consumer Data Protection Act, KRS 367.3611 through 367.3629, may provide qualifying consumers with rights concerning covered personal data. Subject to legal limits, you may:

  • Request deletion of personal data
  • Ask that inaccurate data be corrected
  • Seek a copy of personal information held about you
  • Opt out of certain forms of processing where the law provides that choice

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised. An updated version will be posted here and will show a new effective date, so visitors should review this page periodically.

Effective date: July 26, 2026
